I’ve had a nice busy week. I say nice because I like to be running around
getting things done. I can’t stay away long because my husband can’t be
left on his own for long.
Yesterday was another appointment. I didn’t know how long it would take,
however my two brother in laws come by on Thursday mornings, and it
lifts any worry I might have.
I had a medical appointment. You all know how those go! Yet this time
it was a little different. My doctor scheduled me for the BRKA Analysis
test. It was very simple. I answered a few questions regarding my
family’s health. BRKA is the genetic cancer test, for breast and
ovaries. Once I answered the questions, I went to the lab. had blood
drawn, they gave me the blood back… I returned to the Dr’s office
and the nurse, sent the forms, and blood to Utah.
Even though I have many who’ve suffered an died of this insidious
disease (like many families). There are only 20 percent of expected
carriers that actually have the gene. I think this is quite fascinating.
Women’s Health has come so far. It still has miles to go not only
with cancer but with heart disease, especially in diagnosis.
This was all over in 30 mins. And if you think I was heading back
to the house forget it. I went to my Local Yarn Shop!!! (LYS).
It’s two towns away. And if you’re familiar with Yarn Shops you’re
never in and out. I knew exactly what I wanted before I went. I
had the ball bands and my list.
I don’t want to buy yarn online. I believe in supporting local
business. She has a tiny shop, full of beautiful brands. And I know
that often she’s tied up with other customers. And we DO absorb
her time and expertise.
There was only one customer when I arrived. Which is nothing.
I like to wander through the shelves, glance at the colors and
touch the threads. Whilst she was talking to this customer she
greeted me, I responded and drifted about. Well this customer
wouldn’t stop, she was explaining her projects, how her husband
complains, what other yarn she needed. She kept opening her
pattern book, blabbing away. …No problem I’m still drifting amongst
the bins. Actually I was feeling badly for the proprietor. It must have
been 10 mins. listening to motor mouth, when the owner asked if
she could help me with something. I pulled out one of my ball bands
and said Yes please I would like to see this yarn…Classic Elite
Alpaca. I think it’s one of the softest yarns I’ve ever touched. And
She said Oh that’s one of the best we have. Didn’t Motor Mouth
have to jump in on this too. What is it, I never saw that, what do you
do with that?. Then I said I could use some pinky, bluish yarn,
and the owner said I was just going to recommend THIS, and I said
oh that’s funny that was my other choice…Misti Alpaca. I had that
ball band too.
Wrapping up this overly long post. Motor Mouth decided to purchase
ahead of me, she made FOUR trips back to the yarn bins, stopped
to talk to another customer she knew, who just arrived. And the poor
owner said …I do hope you’re not in a hurry. Well I was but this was
too cool to miss. …I didn’t tell HER that.
I made it home in time for the ole boys to leave.
This is what I purchased.
Classic Elite Marl Yarn.
It has multiple colors stranded together to create a color. Which I think
makes it fun to knit.
#1174…Red Sea………Actually it reminds me of Black Cherry.
Misti Alpaca Baby, Worsted
This is called Peony
Misti Alpaca…….Could Blue
I know it’s a boring story. That’s my life. Although TODAY I
went to the hairdresser as a greyed, washed out brunette and
came home a blonde. ……Like God Wanted Me To BE!
