Winter is Interesting

A couple of weeks ago we had a heavy snow storm.  All the birds

were busy eating the seed. I throw it everywhere when bad weather

is due. Under bushes, trees, anywhere there can be shelter.

While the winds were blowing and the snow was falling this fella

landed.

He has a slate grey back with a white breast.  He’s the size of a crow but something new

for my back yard.

A closer look and checking the Peterson Book, I find out it’s a “Short Tail” Hawk.

Sadly he has one of our tiny Snow Birds/Jungo in his talons.

He stood there for a few mins. and flew away.     We have many red

tail hawks this is the first for me to see a Short Tail Hawk.  Winter storms can

be interesting.

On the other hand this little fella NEVER leaves.
