I love serving the standards. Normally most the ingredients are out of the cupboard. Sometimes you have to pick up an item but usually you can make do. Here are three old timers that are always welcomed, for tailgating or sitting at home watching the game.
Some quick and easy snacks to serve at home or bring as a treat
for your hostess.
Clam Dip
Softened 8 oz. Cream Cheese, Minced Clams, Tablespoon chopped onion.
A dash of Tabasco, or a dot of Horseradish, or a dab of Worcestershire.
strain the clams reserving one tablespoon liquid,
chop the onion,
Into a bowl put the softened cream cheese, the chopped onoin, a dot of Tabasco,
minced clams and the reserved liquid.
Blend well, and chill for a good hour (overnight is fine)
When ready put in a dish, serve with chips.
.
Ham Roll Ups
6-7 slices of boiled ham
Into a bowl..Softened 8 oz. cream cheese, chopped onion or chopped scallion.
A dash of Tabasco or Worcestershire, or Horseradish.
.
Blend well,
Take the slices of ham, and spread the mixture on each slice.
You can add a sprinkle of Paprika or Chili Powder, or leave plain.
Then roll the slices length wise.
Chill for a good two hours. You want the mixture to be solid
when you slice. Once they’re well chilled slice and serve.
Brats in a Blanket,
You can use Turkey/Chicken Sausage, Italian Sausage,
we happen to enjoy the brats.
One container of refrigerator crescent dough.
Remove the casing from the sausage.
cook the meat in water, till completely done,
Once cooked through, line a cookie sheet with
parchment paper. Roll out the dough and
wrap the sausage. You’ll be pinching the seams.
Place on the lined sheet,
and bake till the dough
is a nice golden brown. (at 375 degrees)
Take from the oven and slice right away.
If you wait for them to be cool the dough
is inclined to fall off when the knife goes through.
You can put in the refrigerator and warm up in the
micro wave for later.
