“Twisted Cable” Cowl, Lion Brand

I’m trying to finish off, a lot of lingering projects.  Actually I need the needles.

This is a lovely yarn by Lion Brand. It’s named Heartland. It’s 5 oz, 251 yds. per

skein. They recommend size 9 needle. I usually use a size 8, instead. I can keep

a gauge, with a smaller needle.

Working on a cowl. Cast on 84, stitches, onto round size 8 needles. Purled a couple of

rows. Then Purl 2, Knit three.  Then worked in a tiny cable stitch.

I have a way to go, but this is how it’s working up.

My real point in posting this. Is this is very   nice yarn. It’s quite soft.  Actually it feels softer as it works up, without being limp.  It doesn’t split.  I guess you could say, it’s an enjoyable knit.

Cowl/Hood Lion Brand

I’ve been knitting this boring cowl wondering what on earth got me
started. Now I remember. It was the pretty picture Lion Brand sent
with the directions. See if I finish this I’ll look just like her!!

I checked the Lion Brand Site and they didn’t promise that.  Although they did say this is a pattern for beginners and it’s easy.  It’s true, it’s a mindless knit. You do four rounds knit, four rounds purl, till you’re ready to stab yourself with  you’re own super  turbo knitting needles. Or reach 21 inches whichever comes first.

The pattern calls for size 11 round needles, cast on 82 stitches. However a knitter wrote and said it was too big. I took her advice and used a size 7 needle. This is a pattern that stays lose, and you don’t have to worry about it being too tight.

See it’s just one giant tube!!

THEN I had this absolutely scathingly brilliant idea.  WHY not
use a loom!!  No I didn’t use one yet but I have a lot of chunky,
clunky yarn.

And with my chunky clunky yarn, I can make millions of cowls on
a loom, and become rich selling them on Etsy, or maybe the ladies
on The Real Housewives of New York City or the O.C.  will want to
wear them, and ask me to one of their parties, or openings.  Oh the
possibilities are endless!!!

I added this picture because the tulips have the same pretty pink shade the yarn has. No special reason only THAT!

Have a fun day everyone!
