Try to remember the kind of September When life was slow and oh, so mellow

And here we are. Our days are turning to Autumn and Mother Nature is using her best colors.

I finished my Prayer Shawl. I call it Cape Cod Cranberry. I took the pattern, from the Pray Shawl Book for knitters. There is also a book for crocheters.

This is Lion-Brand’s yarn. It’s top down. Starting with 4 stitches/increase w/yarn over, before the third stitch..place marker and repeat till it’s 30 inches.

I do like how it drapes. and it’s the king of yarn you can snuggle.

I’m spending a lot of these days on my porch. There is always a breeze. It comes off the woods. I’m fortunate for that. This is my view.

Everyone find a way to stay cool!!

It’s March….Already!

I joined a Beginners Knitting page on Facebook. Which of course meant I needed even MORE yarn. And of course Lion-Brand was having a sale. I did very well. Their “Heartland” yarn (which is so sot and cuddly) was marked down. So I went for the GOLD!

I also was able to finish a Prayer Shawl. I love the Caron Baby Soft Yarn. And it did have a few fuzzy spots. But it never split and was very easy to manage. Now I hate the stripes. I did love it in the beginning. Anyway I made up for it by making a nice soft “Chemo Cowl”. It with baby yarn of all sorts of shades. I made one for myself a yr ago. And I love it. So this is the shawl with cowl.

I had an extra skein of the shawl yarn and make a little lady’s scarf. It’s so soft, and squishy!!

I have a hundred million things to do. I think I’ll sit and knit to plan my day!

Have a GREAT DAY!! (she came for coffee yesterday morning)

A New Year 2023

I’ve been knitting, as usual. I got a new storm coat and needed a decent cowl. Because the coat is navy blue. I went with a deep orange and a blue yarn. I don’t know the name of it. It was in my stash, and looked lonely. I’m surprised that it is soft but strong.

I’m also STILL working on a cowl, with baby yarn. There are a LOT of stitches in baby yarn. I’m enjoying it. I’m doing it for any lady going through the lose of hair. When you’re fighting cancer and the fatigue that comes with it. It’s nice to be comfortable and feel a wee bit human, with a pretty cowl

I followed a patter by Vanna White. It was Lion Brand, and I liked the colors chosen. So I made the hat. However my gauge was off and it looks more like a Slouch. Then with all the yarn I made a cowl. I don’t have the directions for the hat anymore. I’ll have to check Lion Brand. However I took the leftover yarn and make a cowl. And I just LOVE wearing this thing. This and a heavy sweater is ideal for Fall.

COWL: Size 9 Circular Needles, Cast On, 84 stitches. Knit two (2) Purl two (2). About a good 4-5 inches. Then increase ONE knit stitch, All around. Continue till desired length. This is 12 inches long. You can make this as long as you want.

September

I bear the Scales, where hang in equipoise
The night and day; and whenunto my lips
I put my trumpet, with its stress and noise
Fly the white clouds like tattered sails of ships;
The tree-tops lash the air with sounding whips;
Southward the clamorous sea-fowl wing their flight;
The hedges are all red with haws and hips,
The Hunter’s Moon reigns empress of the night.

I finally finished my Winter Blankie. I’ve named it my January Blankie because it reminds me of the Amaryllis that blooms in January. Red/orange with beautiful green stalks. Also I think I started it last Jan.

This is Red Heart’s, with a Lion Brand Forrest Green border.

Greenhouse stuff!!

I’ve had some fun stuff going on in the Greenhouse. Because I haven’t been able to give it attention. It took all the work on itself. February I received a lovely White Orchid, for Valentines, from my family. It was gorgeous. It held it’s blossoms for two and a half months. It went dormant the end of April. And just last week I noticed it was coming back. Look at these blooms. They are majestic.

I have a few other new friends growing. I will share later. And food. Oh my gosh. People are so kind to me. I’m so fortunate.

Have a wonderful weekend. I love this time of year!

My happy mess!

I’m still knitting away. I have a few things going. I can’t really concentrate as well as I should.

I’m down to the end of the 5th skein and onto the 6th and last, with my lap blanket.

I really do like working with such vibrant colors. And putting in the cable rows give the affect of a plaid, at a distance, The border is a Forrest Evergreen by LionBrand. The body of the blanket is my fav..RED HEART!!

This is the stash I need to sort. (that will never happen). Also I thought I’d try to use up some yarn. Just for some small things. I’m doing mittens, and I think I’ll make some Jazzy Chemo Caps.

These are the start of 4-needle mittens. I think I’ll make mitts though. Who knows!

I’m not going to sign off without sharing pictures of my Ollie. He’s my pal, I do what he wants. And we get along JUST FINE!!

Yesterday the sun glared through the windows. It was nice, we’ve had a lot of overcast lately.

This is OLLIE!!!!

I hope you all have a fun Friday and a great Weekend.

Too Pretty Not to Knit!

I picked up a few skeins of

RED HEART ROLL WITH IT TWEED YARN, MODERN PASTELITEM # E888-9621

I thought it was so pretty. I made a swatch, using cables. I love how colors change while knitting. Especially with cables. There are dimensions all through the pattern, color, scale, how the pattern depends on consistency. Well because I had so much fun I used up an entire skein. Which meant it would need too much yarn for a blanket. So I went with casting on 3 stitches then increasing each row. I just got done. I need to wrap it up soon. It needs a frilly trim. I have to think, what shade to make dominate.

Experiment in Tweed!

RED HEART ROLL WITH IT TWEED YARN, MARINE

I’m doing some baby blankets, and lap blankets. Mostly because I’m not used to these ever changing hues. The dye lots are gorgeous. And I wanted to enjoy the shades as they unraveled.

As a lover of greens, blues and yellows. I just had to knit this up. With size 8 knitting needles. I cast on 4 stitches. Then add one stitch at the beginning of each row. (Knit one..yarn over then knit the row). Till the width is what you like. Then decrease on stitch each row. Just like a dish cloth.

I like working with this yarn. I never splits, there are no knots. Except in one spot. It blended in fine. I really can’t find anything that disappoints

.

It’s the perfect yarn, for the Garter Stitch. Perfect weight, soft and squish-able.

RED HEART-TWEED, color MARINE!

And this is a CAT IN A BOX,

You can order the yarn, at yarnspirations.com……..The BOX for the CAT is FREE!!!!!!!!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Lap Blanket

I finished the lap blanket. It measures 36″ X 46″. It will be nice, on a cool night, with a good book.

I really enjoy making them. This is one I made a little while ago. It was, with LionBrand.

This is Sara, cuddling, with her new blanky. It was her first winter in the Northeast.

I used the same 3 cable stitch.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!

More on Cowls

Nothing is better than when a box, from WEBS, shows up at your door. They had a sale (of course), and I was in Heaven. This is some of the Ella are Classic Superwash. The colors are beautiful.

And another one, that’s been on the needles far too long. I had to finish them because I was running out of needles.
